The Catalan Petanque Federation presents the Code of Conduct in Petanque sports competitions.
It is an instrument at the service of clubs that are interested in improving the sports practice of Petanque and that affects the positive and desirable behaviors, behaviours, attitudes and values of this sport. This new code is aimed at athletes, technical staff, referees, competition teams, fans and families and the clubs themselves.
The document was based on the Code of Conduct for School Sports Competitions drawn up a few years ago by researchers from the Organizational Development Team based on the project “Prevention of intolerant attitudes in school sports competitions. Construction and dissemination of a code of conduct”, financed by the Higher Sports Council. The adaptation has been carried out from a participatory process that has had the contributions of a working group of petanquists and institutional managers, with the coordination of Professor José Luís Muñoz.
This document repairs positive aspects, reinforces good conduct and avoids exclusive visions more focused on punishment. It is not intended to replace other rules and regulations in force, nor the work carried out by the Competition and Disciplinary Committee or the Referees Committee. Its purpose is to offer clubs a useful and profitable tool that they can use in the competitions they organize with their sports communities.
