Short biography: 

Dr. Mònica Feixas is Professor in the Department of Applied Pedagogy at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), at present on leave. She holds a Licenciature in Pedagogy (UAB), a Master’s degree (M.Ed) in Educational Administration (Teachers College, Columbia University), and a Doctorate (PhD) in Education (UAB). She has taught courses in educational management in bachelor and master degrees in Primary Education and Pedagogy for more than 18 years and has supervised master and doctoral thesis. Her PhD dissertation and main research focus has been in the area of academic development in higher education. More concretely, in the context of the EDO research group and CCUC group (Change of Culture in Universities), she has researched the conceptions and approaches to teaching of university teachers; teaching and learning cultures in higher education; university student’s dropout and retention strategies, and the transfer and impact of academic development programmes and innovation projects into the teaching practice.

In 2014 she moved to Switzerland as Research Fellow at the Institute for Business Education and Educational Management (Institut für Wirtschaftspädagogik) at the Universität St. Gallen. At present she works for the Center for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (Zentrum für Hochschuldidaktik) at the University of Teacher Education Zurich (Pädagogische Hochschule Zürich) in the training and research in university didactics.  She collaborates regularly with academic development units of universities in Spain, Latin-America, Switzerland and Germany in research projects and pedagogical consultancy.
