"University teachers perception of barriers to the use of digital technologies: the importance of the academic discipline " is the title given to the new article published in the impact magazine "Springer Open", whose authors are Cristina Mercader and Joaquín Gairín (members of the EDO Group).
The article, which arises from the results extracted from the thesis carried out by Cristina Mercader, looks for the reasons why the teachers of higher education institutions, such as universities, do not use digital technologies as a tool for teaching and as academic discipline influences this perception.
The publication focuses on analyzing and searching for answers to the current situation where digital technologies are very present among students to develop their learning, but despite this, teachers (especially in the university context) still do not develop their teaching practices using digital technologies as a tool in the teaching process.
The article concludes by stating that the greatest obstacles to the use of technologies in teaching arise in the disciplines of the arts and humanities. And that, in general, there is a need for professional development for teachers and greater institutional participation through strategic plans.
