'Influence of Pedagogical Leadership Practices in Teaching Pedagogical Practices'

The article 'Influence of Pedagogical Leadership Practices in Teaching Pedagogical Practices: Chile’s Pedagogical Technical Units case' is the result of a doctoral research that addresses the issue of pedagogical leadership, specifically, the influence of the practices of curricular management of the Pedagogical Technical Units (UTP) in teaching practices of local centres in Chile.

The technical-pedagogical work is the motor of the pedagogical action of teachers and directors within the school organizations. For this reason, there must be educational leaderships that promote said action in all this establishments.

For years it has been said that good school leaderships are key for school organizations, as they can influence nutritionally or toxically throughout the institution due to its strong permeability in all areas of school management.

In this context, the study found an opportunity to explore and analyze this research vacuum on the leadership of school organizations and their influence on the agents of the institutions. Thus, we find that in many countries, in addition to the director of the organization, there are professionals who work as: academic coordinators, academic vice-rectors, heads of studies, heads of pedagogical technical units, vice-director or teacher coordinator. Denominations that vary according to the country, but that have a common function, which is to lead (I end in a generic way) and advice the director in the educational management of the establishment.

One of the main conclusions is that UTP’s exercise most of the functions of pedagogical leadership, they are known as pedagogical leaders by the faculty, at the practical level they have a direct and positive influence on several of the pedagogical practices of the professors.

The study was carried out using a mixed methodology, with a qualitative design with a case study approach and a quantitative one of a descriptive type. The field work was carried out in two regions of Chile surveying 567 UTP Heads.
